This was an interesting novella. The writing style -- especially switching back and forth between first and third person -- wasn't my cup of tea, but I appreciated that Prema is a difficult main character who stays fairly unlikable. Desai does a wonderful job of capturing that glimmer of possibility and the feeling of that moment dissipating.
