this book was ALMOST as good as divergent !!

There was so much action in this book & it never bored me! Tris& Tobias were always on the move & doing something different. So much more information was revealed & I gasped a few times. AND CALEB. I didn't see that coming!! Caleb was one of my favorite characters & now that I know he is a traitor I can't stand him & I hope tris never forgives him.

The only thing I didn't like about this book is that tris was not as BADASS as she was in divergent. I mean, I get that her parents died & she killed one of her best friends but honestly it bugged me that she couldn't even TOUCH a gun! She really needs to get over that bc it made the book a loss less entertaining.

Idk about anyone else but I really hated when tris & Tobias fought. I just had to keep reading until they made up before I could put it down bc it made me so angry that they were constantly fighting!!

Overall this book was absolutely amazing. Veronica Roth sure knows how to write a book & I can't tell you how excited I am to start allegiant.

I've been on the waiting list FOR EVER for this book!

Not super thrilled, but a decent set up for the last book in the trilogy. Now, just to wait for that third book to come out!

I’m so perplexed on how to rate this book! It was so different to everything that I loved from the first book but I still really enjoyed it!
I loved the first book and getting to know the world and the faction system, and surviving dauntless was thrilling. In insurgent, some of that intrigue was lost as the world and the problems became so large and complex. I still loved the characters and world and story, but a lot of what I loved about the first book was lost.

I found this book frustrating but not in a way that made it unreadable. I genuinely felt truly immersed in this universe and felt the weight and gravity of the situations and choices of the charters.

*spoilers*
I feel the problems the charters faced greatly intensified. As a result I missed the comfort of Tris and Four’s relationship, and I was so tense and upset because they spent the whole book pretty much arguing, disagreeing and keeping secrets. And they just weren’t on the same side! Their relationship gave me comfort amidst the world that threatened their peace because it was them against the world in book 1, and now they’re apart :(
I hated their inability to communicate but I could still see their love for one another which gave me hope.

I hated that tris kept killing will from him! It was like the one thing that really bothered me! Like half ur issues could’ve been solved if u just told four during one of the MANY opportunities he gave u to tell him!

I was really immersed in this world so I really battled a lot of emotions reading this book. I had this overwhelming fear and melancholy at the end when she didn’t succeed in getting the information. I genuinely was devastated thinking what now! I hated that Tori and her were enemies and Tori like low key wouldn’t hear her out and was just like, she’s a traitor! So frustrating!

I felt the same melancholy when Evelyn was giving her whole speech. Like they defeated erudite an oppressive power hungry faction, for a new power hungry group to just take over. And it seemed obvious the whole partnership that they had sinister plans and couldn’t be trusted.

I hated Evelyn. She sucks. Bad vibes! Her deal to erase all information ever just seems illogical and frankly so freaking stupid!? Like they spend the start of the book talking about the ingenuity of amity farming and how essential Erudite are. So to just wipe the entire faction out and all that information seems self destructive. Like how r u gonna farm if erudite tech is gone??

Candor suck too. Jack saying u won’t have allies with us again if u leave, when he was gonna hand them all over to Erudite anyway. Like ur not an ally in the first place if you’re going to hand them over??? They will be killed if they stay Ofc they’re gonna leave, an ally wouldn’t hand them over???

Also if Jeanine knew the big secret, and she didn’t want it getting out, why kill a whole faction. Like I felt like her decision to do that just ruined the whole faction system and world and basically caused her downfall. Like I get u want to live in ur bubble and if abnegation we’re gonna ruin that what can u do. But u ruined ur own bubble anyway. Like it would never return to what it was before. Idk just seems weird. Her motivations were odd.

Not quite as strong and cohesive as the first book, but still a good read and I'm very intrigued by how this will all play out. I REALLY wish I'd realized that the third book hasn't yet been released or I might have waited to start this trilogy. *pre-ordered* *waits*
