This book kept me interested throughout. It was humorous and eccentric (if a book can be eccentric). It was vivid. It tweaked my imagination.
I got a little lost when it came to the trolly's, I couldn't figure out where the author was trying to take me with that part of the story. So, I gave it four stars because things got a bit shaky at the end, but I really enjoyed the story and characters overall.

One of my absolute favourites as I simply adore DEATH. A beautiful version as well!

Just re-read this one. I had forgotten how good it is, and that even this early in the series Pratchett was tackling some heavier issues. And this book considerably redefines the character of Death.

It also contains perhaps my favourite bit of Pratchett EVER:

"Oook."

"You? We can't take you," said the Dean, glaring at the Librarian. "You don't know a thing about guerrilla warfare."

"Ooook!" said the Librarian, and made a surprisingly comprehensive gesture to indicate that, on the other hand, what he didn't know about orangutan warfare could be written on the very small pounded-up remains of, for example, the Dean.
