There are some things I really like about this collection of poetry and other things that didn't do it as much for me.
The good: the poems are well written. I liked the "currently listening to" idea with each poem (though admittedly I felt a lot of the music choices were not to my taste in any way). I LOVED the remixing of the poems by doing blackout poetry with the poems from the first half.
The less-good: I felt like we were treading through the same ideas and themes over and over ad nauseum.

I loved the concept of the book being a cassette tape and while many of the poems hit home for me, I sometimes had a hard time following the messages in each poem. Side B (the 2nd half of the book) was very quick to read which makes a slow reader like myself very happy, but I sometimes found it hard to read because the lines that created new poems cut off the letters and sometimes were piece one letter from several different lines to make one word. While it was artistically great, and I love this style, it became difficult to read at times.

Well, I think I've found my favorite modern day poet. This book is brilliant! I love everything about it. The poems are all very well-worded and constructed. The subject content is very relatable. And I just ADORE the concept of having the first half of the book (side a - the poems) being all written poems and the second half of the book (side b - the remixes) being all blackout poems created from the poems in the first half of the book. That is just brilliant!
I immediately ordered all of her other books and cannot wait to read them. I love her writing style!
