High Risk pulls the heartstrings from the get go. No way to avoid attachments. You will be invested in this convoluted situation. Falling for the shut off broody astronaut isn't hard. But taking those butterflies might be...

Sexy, sweet, and full of high walls, High Risk teases you into believing in High Rewards. I look forward to learning exactly what the rewards are...

**I received a copy of High Risk from Net Galley and Author Collective in exchange for a honest and voluntary review. The opinions expressed below are mine alone.**

High Risk (Point of No Return) by Brenna Aubrey is the first book in her new series. However, you need to know that this ends in a cliffhanger and doesn't have a HEA and you'll have to wait until December 6, 2018 to find out what happens.

Commander Ryan Tyler has suffered a tragic loss of his best friend Xander during his last mission to the International Space Station and hit rock bottom causing NASA to doubt his ability to go on another mission. He knows that the cards are stacked against his being able to join the XVenture Private Astronaut Corps (XPAC) unless he can stay sober and behave for Gray Barnett whose father has agreed to fund the first privately funded trip to space. As a former Navy SEAL he knows that if he wants it bad enough then he'll have to prove his ability to return to space. But will Ryan and Gray be able to keep their attraction to each other quiet or will her father find out and pull all of XPAC's funding?

Gray Barnett would like nothing more than to impress her father as a flight psychologist but he's set on her working for in one of his companies for human resources. So she'll have to make Ryan ready for flight in the month that she's been given and dad will double his investment. But when Ryan finds out about her health issues will it change how they feel for each other? She feels that her heart condition may turn him away but can Ryan do that or will he fall head over heals for her?

There is a hint that Gray's best friend Pari a rocket scientist and Victoria may have some future together but we'll have to see how that turns out in the next book.

Beautiful

Damaged Commander Tyler, and the girl to help him get it together... An incredible introduction to an unlikely pairing. On the surface, Gray and Ryan don’t have a lot in common, but delving deeper into each of them is proving an interesting challenge. Can’t wait to dive into their conclusion

When I heard Brenna Aubrey was not only working on a new book but a new series, I got a tad excited. I love her words so much. She always brings the feels with a fantastic amount of geeky goodness - my favourite thing. When I heard the story was going to be about an astronaut I thought, ‘whoa, okay, this is different. Different from what I've read from her in the past, and different from anything I've really read.’ Brenna does not disappoint, and although this is a duet, the book ends on a happy for now. So, I wasn't kicking and screaming that I have to wait two months for the next book. This book is written beautifully, I can totally understand the need for a duet, I don't think one book would have done this story and this couple justice. Having it split over two gave the story time to develop organically and I just love that. And, I'm not usually a duet fan - mainly because they're usually the size of one book split into two, not the case here, this is a full length, in fact, it’s almost double the size of some full length novels so you're definitely getting your money's worth with this bad boy.

The characters are always an integral part of the story and they really are an interesting mix. They had me cursing, and swooning, and laughing. Maybe, some throat punching too. Commander Ryan Tyler has had it rough the past year, so his behaviour is understandable, he’s hurting, and he’s trying his best to keep a promise he made, he’ll do whatever it takes. I don’t think he ever envisioned Gray, but, she’s just what he needs. He’s a cocky arse and I just adore him because he’s really a sweet guy. He cares and his pain is palpable. I may have shed a tear or two for him. I was also swooning hard for this guy. His term of endearment for Gray was pure perfection.
When we first met Gray Barrett I have to admit I wasn't her biggest fan, she says something that had me sitting up and saying, ‘what the heck? Hell no, she did not!’ However, not long after, I warmed to her and by the end, I was in love with this girl. She is smart and funny, and charming, no wonder Ryan falls for her. Heck, I was falling with him. She’s incredibly strong - I should have known, Brenna is the queen of strong heroines. I was definitely kept guessing about her past for a while there. Their chemistry is explosive. You could almost feel the sexual tension leaking off the page. And when they finally give in to their desire? Oh. My. Word. Talk about out of this world. It was Kindle melting hot. There is one character that I disliked from the beginning, and by the end, I actually hated him, the things he said, no freaking way, I don't care about his reasons, not cool. I wanted to punch him in the throat. I loved Gray and Pari's friendship, it was fun yet sweet. When we were first introduced to Keely, I thought I was going to dislike her, but, actually, she seemed nice - but, whether that changes in book two remains to be seen. Ryan's teammates are interesting and I'm hoping they each get stories too. I may have my eye on Noah.

One of the things I loved about this book was the space aspect, you can tell that the author has a passion for the subject and did the research and it stands out. The fact that the details were explained, but not overly so was perfect. It's difficult to find that balance, but, I think Brenna does a stunning job of it. I am going to be all over this series. I need ALL the stories. Brenna never ceases to amaze me with her skill for drawing the reader in and submerging them in the world she has created. Making them fall for characters and even change their mind about them. This is a book not to be missed. Make sure you pick up your copy asap.

Publishing Date: 11th October 2018

series: Point of No Return

Author: Brenna Aubrey

Goodreads rating: 4.33 stars

My rating: 4.5 stars

I am not sure it’s possible to put into words exactly how I feel about this book!

At just 2% into the book, Brenna’s words had me in tears. Seriously, there was A LOT of really ugly crying going on. At 3% into the book she literally had me fangirl squealing as Adam Drake made a little cameo! The entire book had my emotions all over the place, and I absolutely adore a book that can do that. If a book can send me on one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride, you can bet I think it’s one hell of a book!

I’m not 100% sure I would have liked either Ryan or Gray had the story been told from just one point of view, if I’m quite honest, I’d probably have gotten pretty irritated by them pretty quickly. However, because this story is told from a dual perspective, I was able to understand the thoughts, feelings and emotions of both characters all the way through, and I genuinely adore them both.

Brenna has a really clever way of making you feel her character’s pain, their happiness and every other feeling/emotion in between. It’s unique, sexy, super geeky and thoroughly enjoyable, even if it’s just a little bit frustrating at times!

My stomach dropped so many times reading this book, and I have a feeling it’s going to be doing a lot more of that when the second and final instalment of this duology is released in December. I for one can not wait to see how things end for Ryan and Gray, I adore them as a couple and I’m so damn invested in them it’s unreal! I’m literally counting down the days until it’s release now!

I genuinely get so scared when authors I have previously read books from and loved, come up with something else, because I am terrified of not liking it. But Brenna did not disappoint! In fact, I would go as far as to say, Brenna Aubrey out did herself on this one!

Roll on December!

Yes! I knew there was a potential. The Gaming system series was a bit of a disaster for me, but I still decided to give this a chance and I am happy I did it. I loved the story, the characters, the pace, the feelings. It wasn't overly dramatic and there was something that made this book perfect-communication. They talked, there weren't stupid misunderstandings and it was the best thing. I just hope that second book will follow that path.

This is part one of a duet, so the ending is a cliffhanger.
