Casual racism aside, I loved this. I had no idea Shangri-La came from a book! I felt such a kinship with main character Conway, a dude who finds it "his fate in life to have his equanimity always mistaken for pluck, whereas it was actually something much more dispassionate and much less virile." He doesn't fit into society anymore, he doesn't see the purpose of toiling and striving, and he wants to just chill and learn and live! Same, my friend. Of course, he got completely destroyed by war and his equanimity, much like Shangri-La, may not be the serene utopia it seems. But maybe it is!

I saved a photo of this book on my computer around one and a half year ago and some weeks ago I decided to clean out my computer and I found the photo. I had forgot about the book so i looked it up and found that my library had it! It was fun to finally read it after it being a photo on my computer for nearly two years!

I read it for most parts on my way to and from school so I always needed to stop in the middle of some chapters with made the book hard to take in. I believe that all those pauses and the back and forth while reading an other book is what could be the cause of me not liking the book so much. I was siting outside at home when I read the last 40 pages yesterday of the book and I did like them more that the rest of the book. Some parts in the end was a bit confusing for me, but I think thats because I was not focused on the book for most of the time. I think I would have liked the book a lot more if I would have sat with it in longer sitting and trying to take it in instead of reading it a bit everyday. It is a classic after all, so it should be good! I will probably not rea-read it in the future, but I do think I would enjoy it more after a secondtime!

It took me 6 hours and 23 minuts to read!
