Reading a new skulduggery book feels like the devil I know.
You would think that after 17 books, this series wouldn’t have to pull things out of its own ass to make a “twist”.
Like the last one, anytime that new stuff comes up I found it did okay, anytime spent discussing stuff from book 15 was a snore. The plot only kicks in after about 50% which doesn’t fill me with confidence. This is the best Cadaver Cain book though, and I don’t hate Winter turning into wizardHitler, but she’s so annoying to deal with. No idea what the messaging is supposed to be in these ones, it’s very messy and reliant on the big third act “twist”. Valk should have died at least three times in this one, so seeing her get beat within an inch of her life makes me bummed out instead of tense.
Ending was bad, I still might read the next one, so my heart isn’t full of hatred this time.
