A beautifully strange reading experience. Quite different from anything I've ever read, it was very immersive and almost dream-like, moving between graphic novel and larger chunks of prose. Kari is an endearing character in her standoffishness - like somebody who wants to portray themselves as a blank wall to conceal all the pain and emotion trapped behind it. Some beautifully haunting lines in it as well as some great character-work.

The art is sharp and the opposite of soothing, and that's what makes it easy to deal with subjects like heart break, death and being lesbian in a society which doesn't understand that.
