cute but not that interesting. just a very instant interest, a couple cute dates and that's it? but that's as expected from a short novella

The book is listed as .5 in the Murder and Mayhem series but doesn’t have any connection to that series except for a vague reference to Rook’s warehouse. I wish this had been a longer book and that there had been more direct connections made.

There isn’t really a lot to the story relative to the dead bodies…it’s more about the romance and there’s not a lot of depth there either. It’s hard to connect with the characters as we don’t get much background on them. The subtitle on the bottom of the cover implies there’s more with these characters but I don’t see anything listed in the author’s catalog.

The MCs intrigue me so I hope that there is more, particularly if it intersects with Rook and Dante.

Thoroughly enjoyed this little snippet!! Had to quickly skim Bk1 to see where Alex and Castillo fitted in. Just sorry it wasn't slightly longer so the relationship had a bit more time to show the romance.

3.5 stars rounded up!

This was a cute, quick read that I would have given a full 4 stars to if it wasn't for that ending. Why?! Are we going to get a full length novel with these two or will it bleed into Rook and Dante's next book? Idk, but that ending frustrated the hell out of me.

But James and Alex were adorable as hell together and had great chemistry, so I rounded up for that, because they certainly caught my interest and I wanted so much more of them! Alex was sweet and adorable and James was kind and gentle. They fit so well together.

But Alex found a dead body in his shop, and once James finishes investigating it, he asks Alex out and they start dating - only, things aren't over yet, as more than just the one body turns up in Alex's shop. But we don't get answers to anything after the first body's case is done. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see? I hope so!

A bit speedy since it is so short, but with that plunging depth Rhys Ford is so good at, guaranteeing I'd totally read more about this pair. :)
