This was decent. I really liked the protal magic and the premise of the story. I thought the writing was great and kept me intrigued. But other than that, not much stood out. All the characters and setting felt very generic to me.

The taut pacing and intriguing twist on portal fantasy kept me turning pages. Elements of mystery and horror are also woven throughout making for an engaging read. I also found the characters to be interesting while still leaving room for them to be further developed. Overall an enjoyable read.
