I enjoyed this book but I’ll admit, I was a little confused by the world building. I had read the previous novel, My Forbidden Desire, but I guess it was so long ago I didn’t remember much. Typically after a few chapters I can get the gist of what is going on or jump start my brain to remember but I don’t know if it ever really clicked with that story. That said, I think this tells me that this story would have been more enjoyable if I read the series closer together. I say this because I enjoyed the heroine, Gray. I liked the fight she had in her and that she recognized that with the new powers she had in her, she needed help. She didn’t have any TSTL moments and I respected her for it. I loved that she turned to Durian for help because he is one sexy, alpha man. They had some great chemistry and even though they had some initial trust and communication issues to work through, they made a great combination. Fun read, I’d be intrigued by the rest of the series but I think I’d need a quick reminder of the world before I start the next.

I tried to like the book, I really did, but the entire time I was forcing myself to read it, and therefore not enjoying the book at all.
