Main plot: 4 stars
Final two chapters: so many more than 5 stars. And too many tears to count. Obviously an ending like that brings the whole book up.

This was a whirlwind that I couldn’t put down. Taking place in a dual-timeline format, the present day story takes place over a one-week period where a child’s murder is being investigated. The two timelines blend together perfectly, and revealed just enough about each timeframe as the story progressed.

As a former child welfare attorney who helped several of my clients through their adoptions, this was particularly meaningful. Seeing the adoptive process—including the ups AND downs—is so important, and so rarely discussed in favor of the positives.

Did I expect the twist? Yes, I started to clue in about halfway through. Did I expect the second twist? Also yes.

This is a well-written domestic thriller that I absolutely loved.

OMG! What a read! Absolutely incredible, this had me gripped from the off and I couldn't put it down as I needed to know what had happened.

I loved how we have the past and present telling the story as it was before and what was happening now. And WOW, talk about twists and turns - this book was giving those - and just when you thought there was nothing else left - BOOM!! I felt absolutely side-swiped towards the end.

The characters are brilliantly written and I really loved to see what was going to develop between them.

It was a good book, not as dark as I like the. But still a medium fast paced book. With decent enough plot and twists. To keep you interested and I want to read another to see if I enjoy the author.
