Don't start this one if you need to go to bed, need to feed the family, need to go to work, etc. In other words, don't start this one unless you have the time to dedicate to reading it from cover to cover. I made the mistake of picking it up at bedtime, telling myself I was only going to read a few chapters. Before I knew it, it was 4:30am and I had finished it.
This is one of my favorite series in the historical romance genre. Tracy Cooper-Posey fills her stories with complex characters, strong family ties, accurate historical detail, and love stories that capture your heart. There is also adventure, laughter, surprises, and plenty of passion. I recommend picking up this book, really the entire series, and letting yourself get lost in a saga that you won't want to end.
I received an ARC of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving my honest review.

It continues to amaze me how Tracy Cooper-Posey keeps coming up with new plots and storylines and every time I pick one of her books I never know where I will end up. Season of Denial doesn’t disappoint and it’s certainly one of the best in this series. The historical details, the characters, and the plot twists are effortlessly intertwined to create a thoroughly entertaining romance.

The story starts with the typical wallflower in her sixth season still waiting for a proposal and the typical rake with no intentions of settling in. But there is nothing typical in what follows. The main characters embark in a set of adventures that have nothing to do with ton balls and walks in the park. From a boxing match to a football game and so much more, this novel gives us a glimpse of nineteen-century life that I honestly haven’t encountered in many romance novels.

I enjoy reading historical romance novels for many reasons but the main one is that it’s the best way to learn more about events and how people lived in those times. Most Regency themed novels approach some topics mainly the Napoleonic Wars and that’s it. This collection and particularly Season of Denial is set in 1870-71 and describes events from the little talked about Prussian-French war and its action takes places abroad and not just in England and in many different environments. An engaging plot and rich descriptions make it a unique and refreshing read that kept me glued to the pages until the very end.

This story can be read as a stand-alone but all the books in this series are amazing and have a “movie-like atmosphere” that makes such a gripping read.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
