Sandra Brown, the queen of romance mystery novels..need I say more?

I’ve been reading her novels for a very, very long time and not one has ever disappointed me.

This one involves Drex Easton, Talia Shafer and Jasper Ford. FBI agent looking to get revenge for his mother’s death and bring her killer to justice. What he doesn’t expect to happen is to fall hard for the beautiful and classy Talia Shafer. Along the way we find out more things with the incredible way Sandra weaves and twists little facts that we assumed were true but, in fact weren’t.

I enjoyed this read and if you’re a fan of Sandra Browns, then it’s a given you have to read it. Now, if you’re not a fan yet, I recommend starting with some of her earlier works.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ only because the overall story seems to be one she’s already covered but, this has new and different twists.

Better than 2 stars, but I could not give it 3. Started slow, many unbelievable twists.

Hands down, my least favorite book of hers to date. This one was difficult to slog through.

3.5 stars for the story
4 stars for the narration by Victor Slezak

Outfox is a typical Sandra Brown romantic suspense with a clever, convoluted plot and interesting characters. The plot for this one, an FBI agent looking for a serial killer who preys on wealthy women, is solid, and the build up and tension make this a page turner. I was on board for the whole ride until the end when Brown basically jumped the shark and left me scratching my head. The plot twist at the end left me reviewing conversations throughout the book. On several occasion Brown relies on one or more characters not bringing up a piece of information that I think would definitely have been shared. The thing is, I don't know why she chose this plot twist at all. Anyway, it brought it down at least half a letter grade for me.

Victor Slezak has been part of the dream team of Brown and Slezak for over a decade. I fell in love with his narration when I stumbled onto Envy which is still my favorite romantic suspense book. However, I didn't feel this was Slezak's best work. He sounds a little tired on this one, and at times doesn't keep the character voices straight, most notably for Talia. Slezak has never changed his voice much for women, just softening his tone, and that has worked well, but a few times he forgot to soften his voice and I was surprised when the dialog tag indicated it was Talia speaking. It was only a few times, but I noticed. Still a solid B performance.
