I did not want this to end. I needed more Iris and Roman. I needed more love letters full of longing and sweet words.
It is not a secret among those who love me that these past months have been a nightmare...and this book was my safe space during that time. The best moment of the day.
Probably it is not the perfect book, but it was the book I needed. I needed to scape to Oath, find myself in Iris and feel in love with journalism again (a career I studied but I could not find opportunities in the way I wanted). Old-fashion typewriters in hand, gathering stories, all mixed with magic.
Through Iris and Roman love story I had my heart pounding, wishing magic ley lines were real, waiting for the next letter.
I am a romantic, I am not going to lie. I wished for love letters of my own. But their love story serve me as a shelter for when stress and sadness was too much in my reality.
I also found that this story allowed me to find joy while also mirroring the desperation I was feeling in my real life. All mixed, all at the same time.
I wish I could explore Iris and Roman story further, as they have accompanied me in such hard times. It is hard to say goodbye.

I was just so bored with this. It doesn’t hit the same as Divine Rivals and there wasn’t nearly enough romance for me. It just left something to be desired. The pacing was so slow through the first half, Dacre and Enva’s relationship wasn’t expanded upon nearly enough. The tone was so jarringly back and forth. And so much stuff was just randomly thrown in without much expansion.

A weak conclusion to the duology. The story dragged for the longest time, then it was nothing but rushed. The plot was half-baked. Too many plot holes and developments that didn't make sense or seemed unnecessary.

“Write me a story where there is no ending, Kitt. Write to me and fill my empty spaces.”

When the first book ended with a cliffhanger, I thanked myself for having thought far ahead and bought this even though I have not even started the series yet. To be honest, I'm just here for Roman and Iris. I just wanted to see what happened to Kitt and if they'd be reunited soon (SPOILER:
they didn't.
). I love the interaction between the memory-loss Roman and Elizabeth. When Roman said he wasn't surprised to realized he's falling in love with her again, I just died. Right there and then. They are just meant for each other and not even the gods will separate them two. I think that's really the core point of the book.

Now, for the other characters. Attie and Tobias was definitely a good addition to this book. I love seeing them both in the pages I read because the romance was lacking (I mean, of course, it was full of romance in the first book) but as a romantic at heart, I just thoroughly enjoyed this couple. I love seeing Marisol and Keegan once again together but I'm sadden that they didn't have much screen time because I would love to see more of them together fighting in the war. Dacre and Enva were gods that really didn't feel like gods. It's kind of hard to explain but it just feel like they didn't have much power. There I was, thinking that Dacre is this invincible god. But his ending was just anti-climatic. Enva as well was pretty useless, in my opinion.

Okay, for that ending that made me tear up. Rebecca Ross, why? Why pull a Mockingjay ending on us? [SPOILER ALERT]
Why bother killing Forest? He had that redemption arc. Why did you take it away from him? We wanted a happy ending for him. Iris literally joined the corresponding job just to be with her brother, and this is what you gifted her? His death? I'm just so pissed off with that ending. She didn't need that heartbreak. Prindle as well! This couple really didn't need to die. We needed to see them alive and in love. I'm just so sad.
