Wasn't a big fan of any of the characters except Tobias. Everyone else was either annoying or boring. Tobias was just lovely and so romantic.

I didn't really like this- Genevieve just seems to get shoved around by all the men in her life and I didn't believe in the romance.

I did enjoy this little novella to an extent. It was the first time I read anything by Eloisa James, but it has made me want to check out some of her other novels.

The storyline was cute... the boy from her past comes back to her, except... she insists that she no longer has feelings for him (but that's a big joke) and that she'd rather marry this man that didn't seem to care for her in the least bit. Yeah. That makes complete sense. She spends the whole story behaving like this silly little girl and became quite unlikable.

In the end everything was happily ever after... as it always is in silly romance novels. But that's what makes them great isn't it? :)

This one was kind of boring. I thought about giving up, but eh, it was under 80 pages.

Genevieve ran away, was found and was forced to marry an old guy. Then he dies and she meets that old flame again.

Yawn. She was kind of annoying in a way, yeah did not really like her. Her old flame was better. He wanted her, he gets her. The end.

Meh.

Listed as Duchess Quartet #1.5 but also a prequel of sorts to the Essex Sisters since Lucius appears here, too (I had to go speluking on Eloisa's site to figure out where it fit.

A nice second chance novella.

I generally don't like novella's because I always feel like the characters are rushed to get to the plotted ending or that I'm missing some huge piece of the story. Unfortunately, this didn't change my mind (which bothers me because I really like most of Eloisa James' books).

Genevieve wanted to marry Tobias, but her father found out and dashed off to get her. When he finds her, he marries her off to an elderly business man (assuming to have some debt forgiven...as this man seemed to always be collecting an owed debt from someone). A few years later, said elderly husband dies, but stipulates in his will that she must marry who she chooses or get basically nothing. A few more years later, we find Genevieve in London and lo and behold Tobias is back. Now Genevieve has to make the decision about who she should end up with...the man she thinks she loves or the one she thought she loved enough to run off to Gretna Green.

Maybe if this was a full length novel, we would have had time for more character development and perhaps a bit more of the character's back story develop to get us to where we ended up in a very fast fashion. It was a quick read and something to occupy a few hours while the kids were playing, but in the end I'm glad it was a free read on Amazon.

A Fool Again is about widow Genevieve who gets a condition in The Will that she's got to marry one of her dead husband business partners or she will be left without any income. Since she is attracted to one of them, it seems like it will not be such a tough task but then her first love re-appears willing to try again. Who will Genevieve choose?

A cute and short historical romance story with a couple of hot and romantic scenes. I like Eloisa James writing style, it's a little bit more modern and exciting than old historical romance novels. And she sure knows how to invent some interesting situations and quirky characters.

Although this novella is listed as part of Duchess Quartet series, it can easily read as a standalone because it's not really connected to the plot of the series. The characters from A Fool Again are barely mentioned in the other books.

My rating: 3 stars

I recommend this book to fans of: historical romances with unusual main characters or lovers of second-chance-at-love stories.

Not her best. The heroine was awfully flighty, and the story wasn't overly satisfying to me. Some novellas I love, this one left me feeling like it was too short.
