Audio book review.

A modern day dragon tale that explores what might happen if a dragon revealed himself to the world, scales and flames and all. Tesser wakes beneath the city of Boston with no idea just how long he's been out. Turns out, a very very very long time. Slowly, he learns the language, local customs, and makes a few new friends. We have a dorky magic apprentice and his wise-but-rapidly-aging mentor. They are trying to figure out what happened to the magic in the world. We also follow the storyline of a girl working for a company (tech or genetics or something, I don't remember), and she's reassigned to a special research team called Amethyst. Turns out the company has a huge secret buried in the basement. We follow Tesser and his friends as he realizes the state of the world, and decides to introduce himself loud and proud as the ultimate ruler and creator that he is.

I love the world-building in this story! The characters are great, and they feel genuine. I love books with dragons that are well done, and this kept my interest all the way through. I would absolutely recommend this to everyone who has an interest in the blending of fantasy and reality. So good!!

I've been rereading Adrian's Undead Diary and noticed this book by Chris Philbrook and decided to give it a try. Normally, a book this long would take me weeks to finish, but I flew through it and stayed up late over a few nights because I was enjoying it so much.

I think I liked the first half of the book more, while Tesser is being introduced, but still enjoyed it to the end. As with the Adrian's Undead Diary, there's a good mix of humor and action from the main character. As well as a bit of angst.
