I loved the spicy stuff and I loved how real Judy felt but I did find it hard to keep up with her, everything happened almost too fast at times. But otherwise it was a good read.

I was so super excited to find out that the heroine was a curvy woman when I started reading this novella. However, the story fell flat for me. I didn't understand Steven's motives at all. His whole speech about having to make fun of her when they were younger to keep his feelings truly hidden? IDK, I just didn't feel like it was genuine.

Judy on the other hand was awesome and neurotic and so damn normal. What woman doesn't have issues with her body? I could definitely relate to her. She was the reason I stuck with the story until the end.

I thought I was going to rate this 2 stars up until the last quarter or so because it was so far inside the female MCs head that sometimes I didn't know what was going on. I've had this problem with a couple of this author's other stories, and yet I still really enjoy them. But then it started getting really good (i.e. easier to tell what was going on), enough so that I bumped my rating up to 3 stars.

I enjoyed the story between Judy and Steve. There was a simmering attraction between them for 10 years, and although they'd never acted on it, one comment from Judy has Steve looking at her differently. It's a very hot, very fast read, and I enjoyed it!! Highly Recommended!

This felt very fatphobic, although I admittedly did not read far enough along to see if it redeemed itself

Charlotte Stein does what she does best, writes witty female heroines & wicked sexy men. She also writes some of the best sex scenes in literature. Curveball is a quick novella about a woman named Judy who happens to be curvy. She goes on holiday on her brothers yacht with her brother, her brothers wife, and their childhood friend Steven whom Judy has had a crush on since childhood. Being trapped on a boat Judy & Steven realize there's more to their relationship than just being friends.
If you've read other Charlotte Stein books & liked them then you'll like this book too! If you're looking for a quick, sexy, funny book then Curveball is that book!

Cute novella in which the plump little sister has nurtured a hidden crush on her brother's himbo best friend for years, thinking he'd never be into a girl like her. Naturally, he's crushed on her for nearly as long but she's hidden her feelings so well he thinks she's indifferent at best. When she overhears him talking about a plus-size hookup in unflattering terms, she loses it on him and he starts to realize maybe she's not indifferent after all. Single POV and mostly breathless inner monologue which can be trying, but the novella length keeps it from being too much.

(Also does Charlotte Stein compare all of her hero's dicks to cylindrical food items?)
