Never disappoints.

Reading a Cherise Sinclair book is like a visit with old friends. Not only does this book teel.the story of Sir Ethan and Piper, but you catch up.with all the previous Dark.Haven couples.

I reread this book recently, and still enjoyed it, Sir Ethan is a great gentle Dom, but I’m kind of over every single submissive in this series being abused and broken and in need of healing by an all knowing indestructible Dom. D/s relationships are not therapy and I’m over this same tired storyline from this author. Give me a submissive who isn’t completely broken down by life or on the run from some stalker. Find another way to bring conflict to a story and show me a strong, together woman who submits to a Dom, not in exchange for therapy or protection, but because she enjoys letting go and loves kinky sex. I’m just so tired of the same old same old from this author. Yawn.

To clarify, I rated this a 4 star on my first read a few years ago, and I have a rule against changing my ratings. I liked this a lot when I first read it, still liked it after this listen on Scrib’d but I have read many more from this author since I read this one and they are all the freaking same.

The last few chapters were the best part of this book. I did think the narration was well done. There was also a fair amount of suspense in the book.

Piper was both damaged and traumatized, but she was a survivor. With Ethan's assistance she was able to come into her own. This is the first book I have listened to in this series.

It had been a while since I read anything in this series. I enjoyed being back with the Dark Haven characters. This one had an English dominant that had relocated to San Diego, and a submissive that had to run from an abusive relationship. Ethan saved Piper more than once. I thought this one was sweet. He treated her lovingly from the beginning. Her only family sells her out to the master who abused her. She has a great core group of friends, and Ethan sees her worth. I really liked being back in this world.
