Such a fun little story! Halloween, witches, ghosts, and more. I quite liked it and loved seeing Alice live with the older lady for a while, Gerta was adorable, what the police officer was took me by surprise but a good surprise, there are still a few questions I have, but in overall this was a story I enjoyed reading.

This tale was sweet, but still a tad bitter. Like a high % dark chocolate. It felt very atmospheric, and I probably should have read it in October and not at the end of December, but that is the kind of year 2020 has been!

A quick and incredibly atmospheric read that, in my mind, defines what it means to be a cozy horror novel. I liked the circularity of this story, but I do wish it had been longer. With a proper conflict and expanded ideas, this would have made such a wonderful novel.

I was really taken in by the natural descriptions in this story. The change of the seasons has always been an important measure of time to me, and this story captures it beautifully - with a current of darkness running underneath. There's some ambiguity in the plot here, but I think it really works with the mood of it all. A perfect Halloween story.
