While it is definitely nice seeing Curran furious with the Pack for what they did to Kate, I feel like it isn't enough. When Mahon and Jim talk about Kate needing to prove she should be allowed to be mate ... I wanted Curran to gut them both. I don't get why any of them - ANY! - can acknowledge that 22 challenges in 11 days (9, actually, since he was unconscious for 11 but they didn't start challenging her until after the first 48 hours) is way beyond what any of those assholes had to do for their spot.

Fuck the Pack. Magic Bleeds is when I started hating them. And now, by book 9, my hatred for them has been completely reinforced. Fuck them all. Their betrayal of Curran and Kate is unforgivable, and Kate and Curran should get out of dodge with their actual friends, and leave the Pack to Roland.

Curran wakes from his two week coma to Kate at his side and to hear another has come to challenge her. He has other plans and goes to the Alpha Pack Council meeting. Then Curran tells Mohan, his adoptive father, to stay. Curran knows this is it, they need to have this out about Kate now.

This is why Curran is THE Beast Lord. Right up front. This is not the banter and fun witted man we see with Kate. This is the Beast Lord taking control of the Pack and the way things will go, his way.

In this one we get more. We get Curran and Mahon. I always wondered where he disappeared too after being known he didn't much care for Kate as Curran's mate. This will settle that.

There is fun, but The Beast Lord makes his presence known, and there is fighting to please all.

All the material in this ebook was incorporated into the Curran POV vol. 1 that I downloaded. Or maybe it isn't a vol. 1 - maybe it has all the Curran POV stories available to date....

I read this short little novella (free!) immediately after book 4 and it worked out perfect because this story acts almost like a deleted scene, just from Curran’s point of view. It’s actually the perfect accompaniment following the completion of book 4. Even though book 4 didn’t leave you with any lingering questions, this novella provided additional scenes that answered questions you didn’t know you had.

Curran is angry, you do not want to see him angry.

Again a nice novella how Curran feels after he wakes up and finds out that his pack has been challenging Kate.

As this one takes place after Magic Bleeds, it has to be read after that to be appreciated.

5 stars.

Another short one but this one I loved more than the first one. I really liked seeing Curran's POV with the other alphas and his fight with Mahon.

I look forward to seeing more short stories from Curran's side of things.

For those readers who are making their way through the Kate Daniels series, this is a Curran POV short story that continues the ending of book 4, Magic Bleeds. It is only available electronically, but no longer available on Amazon for Kindle. However, you can still get it for free at the authors' website: http://www.ilona-andrews.com/books/ebooks/curran-vol-ii-fathers-and-sons
