A disappointing follow up to the first great novel. In this installment Ada's sister arrives from Italy and joins in the detective game. The intrigue is thick as these two intelligent girls set off to solve a mystery that happens to coincide with the Girl in Grey that Mary spotted from her carriage.
Pros:
Great girl characters
Lots of in jokes
Cons:
There are many characters to keep track of
Ada's lack of social grace is not addressed and is exaggerated without compassion.

3.5 STARS!

Though a little better than the first book, this still was just as predictable as the first. I enjoyed the whole "Is it supernatural or not?" vibe that was going on but it still left me going "Okay, that was alright." I wanted to be WOW'd like I was with Wild Boy and this didn't do that for me. I am however planning on picking up the third book in this series when it's available at the library, I like the characters enough to carry on but this isn't the best Middle-Grade Victorian era mystery series out there.

I give this book a 3.5. My only complaint is I wish the novels were longer. I love the illustrations and the font is a larger than normal so it is a quick read. This series is the perfect combination of classic mystery and some historical fiction. I am hoping with the the way this one ended that there will be more books in this series.

I remember enjoying the first book but I was just bored reading this. Although there were a few interesting bits that popped up occasionally as a whole it could have been way better.

I've been wanting to read the Wollstonecraft Detective Agency books for quite a while, and at long last I dug in. I started with #2 since it was the only one the library had at the moment.

This is a clever, fun, silly book that will teach a child about history, science, and cryptology, and will probably make them curious about more topics that they may go learn about on their own.

My only complaint was that the actual mystery took quite a while to get rolling, but honestly, I was having fun along the way. I wish these books had existed when I was a kid.

This series is a pure joy. I can nerd out about victorian ladies! And victorian mysteries! And neuroatypical victorian characters!
