I always love catching up with the characters in this series, and they are as great as ever. Unfortunately, the culprit was wearing a big neon sign saying "I did it" from early on (as much as anyone in that era could wear neon). Not sorry I read it at all, but I wish some of my favorite fictional crowd weren't so clueless this time around.

Probably the most disappointing entry in the series since the mystery wasn't really much of mystery at all. It was pretty obvious who did it. I did enjoy having more Gino and Maeve in the story though the ending was a bit much.

I've said this before, but I learn a lot of New York City history from reading this series. I should've known about Italian Harlem - Rao's and Patsy's are still up there. The leader of the local Black Hand group is killed, and Gino gets charged with murder. The murder part of this was pretty easy to figure out, but I liked how Sarah got involved in the investigation. There's a few places where Malloy and Gino would not be welcome. Maeve and Gino's relationship progressed a bit finally. The end bit with Gino was unexpected and great fun. I had been wondering how the writer was going to tie up the hostage house loose end.
