It took me a minute to follow what was happening, but the story really picked up and was a page turner. Loved the mystery

This was a striking and beautiful book. The whole novel asks the reader that question -- what does it take to salvage this world? -- and it impresses on you that the cost of doing so is both unimaginably high and worth everything you've got. The part of this book that sticks with me is the religion. The American "Christianity" depicted here is brutal and soulless and unfortunately (I think) it's not too far of a stretch. The telos of that religion in this story is especially haunting. I was grateful for the ending.

I liked the book, but this style of writing and prose is not for me.
