In every possible way this book is a YA novel as there used to be many. I know that a lot of people find them cliche or want something original, but I like those old school YA novels, I like that in some sort of way they are predictable. It's like I get a dosis of excitement in a very safe environment. I know one way or another the author will build towards a certain kind of ending. I can just lean back and enjoy the ride.

And this was an absolutely lovely installment in the series. Quite often middle books are boring and not adding much to the general storyline, but in this case that's absolutely not true. We learn quite a lot in this book. Kira discovers new sides of herself, of her story, of her family and of what she actually is now and what that truly means. It felt a little bit like this book was completing the mythology, adding the pieces of the puzzle we were still missing.

I also really liked how the relationship between Kira and Tristan is evolving and how Davis makes sure that it keeps on being interesting. In this book both their expectations and dreams of the future clash and it's quite clear that they both have choices to make, choices that might either make their relationship something eternal or might damn their relationship forever. And after the cliffhanger I can't wait to see where it will eventually lead!

Just like I love seeing Kira grow. Especially in this book she's growing more into her powers and into the person she could be. She learns to take matters into her own hands, although we can discuss how far she goes with that and whether or not that's the right way to do it, and she shows that fighting is more than brute power. It's also mental strength. In the last book to come Kira has some hard choices to make and some battles to fight, both with the outside world and with herself.

Knowing what she has to do, Kira makes a choice that ends up betraying one and following another. Wanting to find the answers about who she is and what really happened to her mother. Kira finds that everything she was hoping for may not be possible and that treachery is running rampant and in order to survive she may end up hurting those that mean the most to her.

Exciting series. Kira is a bit unpredictable and often makes choices on impulse sometimes getting unexpected results. Tristan is the broody vampire who looks at Kira with hopes of a future, even though she will age and he will not. Luke the trusty friend who secretly believes Kira is the one for him, he is a true gentleman though as he waits on the sidelines hoping to get a chance to win Kira over. This has been an excellent series thus far, I found myself frequently unable to put the stories down as Kira begins to discover more about herself and what she is. Cannot wait until the final installment.
