Audience Warning—there’s a bit you have to skip through if you don’t want adult content. Once you get past that though, the story is so incredibly compelling. Your heart absolutely breaks at the pain Lizzy and Darcy go through, but it’s all worth it. Power through, I know it hurts, but this is one you don’t want to miss!

I have to admit the middle of this story gave me a stomach ache, but I persevered knowing it would all work out. A charming story, if not the usual P&P fanfiction.

I would say 2.5 stars. The lengthy inner dialogue stretched on and on, it could have been cut shorter and more interaction could have taken its place. I did not like the addition of the POV of Mr. Howard and Mrs. Reynolds, I thought they did not really lend anything the story but to fill up space. I enjoyed chapters 1-9 but the chapters following were excruciating long, frustrating, and sad..., until chapter 16. After that, any interaction with Darcy and Elizabeth were looked forward to while the other characters and situations just filled space. I did not think the addition of Ms. Roscoe and Ameila Monkford and felt they could have added to the story better or been left out. Although I loved Meg.

In this P&P variation, while touring the Lakes with the Gardiners Elizabeth Bennet encounters an injured Darcy. But this lead them to a better understanding, as they journey to Pemberley. But it is Lydia and her behaviour that will have a longlasting effect on them. Can there be a happy ending for any of the Bennet daughters.
An enjoyable and well-written story

This is Joana Starnes at her best.

I teared up multiple times. Was irrefutably emotional throughout. And I loved it.

Elizabeth and Darcy's character growth in this was phenomenal. The emotional angst was heart-wrenching and deep-seated and gripped me entirely until I found myself at the end of the story.

My only complaint is that I felt the length of this story.

I have never felt so much for Darcy as a character as I did in this story, and that is completely due to the fantastic writing. I was gutted after Elizabeth's initial refusal to him and was frustrated with her in a way I have never been before.

This book had a lot of firsts for me in the Pride and Prejudice variation universe and I was enraptured by it.

Definitely pick this one up if you're an Austen fan and want to relive the story in a different way, especially if you're looking to feel all of the emotional heartache possible. I can't recommend this one enough.
