While this period of Sturgeon's career wasn't generally a strong one, and this book contains some of the worst stories he ever wrote ("The Country of Afterwards" and "The Trick" in particular), it does still contain some surprisingly good stories (notably "Seasoned," "Harry's Note," "Blue Butter," and "Vengeance Is"), as well.
