I read this as a young girl, and even at 18 this book is still one of my favorites. Funny, uplifting, and completely enjoyable.

This story has everything kids love: a lovable pet, relatable funny characters, and life situations that they can see themselves really living through. My almost 9 year old begged me to read more every day, which he definitely doesn’t do often. Kate DiCamillo is a master writer for all ages to enjoy.

You can never go wrong with a book about a friendship with a dog. Though, you can go wrong because often times… you know… something… happens at the end… that makes you cry. But Winn Dixie was my love, and a book that really made me want my own pet
