"Nothing but Shadows" delivers a fulfilling dose of the Shadowhunter world. We delve deeper into the Herondale, Carstairs, and Fairchild lineages, revisiting the era of The Infernal Devices. The characters and historical glimpse were captivating! While some dialogue felt a touch awkward (perhaps due to the collaboration style), Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan's beautiful descriptions paint a vivid picture. Overall, a delightful read for fans of the Shadowhunters and their ancestors.

If I'm being completely honest here, I don't think I'll ever get over Herondale stories. Every new fact that I learn about the family line makes me smile. Clare could keep writing for years, and I'd still read.

This was a great story about Will's (WILL IS IN ANOTHER STORY MY GOD TWO STORIES WITH WILL WHAT DID I DO TO BE SO BLESSED) son James, and James's time at the Academy. I immensely enjoyed seeing all the characters from TID again. The story of James learning about his warlock powers was very captivating.

On a side note, I love all of the outrageous things Will makes up in order to see Jem again, from the demonic pottery, to the potential future injuries of flying debris.

Another shining addition to the Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy collection. I can't wait to start the next one!

I really want to know more about James Herondale! I’m dying to know more! I loved him the first time I learned his name. Tessa and Will as parents! Is there anything better than that? No, none, nah-uh.

Not the best story out of the four I've read so far, but over all very good and fits in well with the rest of them! I enjoyed it thoroughly and look forward to reading the rest as soon as I can!

🚨Spoiler Alert 🚨 I think this is my favorite story so far! I love hearing about the Fairchild’s, Henry, and Charlotte, hearing about Sophie being a Shadowhunter now. I think their underrated characters and should be part of the story more. The story about James got to me, I cried. I am happy he got friends in the end and got a parabati too. I feel sad for Geogre too who wouldn’t want Simon as a parabati but we all know who his parabati should be. Great story, very well written...... Simon 2.0 Ribit Ribit 🤣😂

“They would have to be even blinder than a Silent Brother, Uncle Jem agreed. Because I can see you, James. I will always look to you for light.”
Anything with my babies in it deserves 5 stars.
