This book was written in such dense language that no one but academics will ever read it, which is a shame because it’s very interesting and talks about a side to the War on Drugs that often gets overlooked or minimized. This reading tied in nicely to a lot of the feminist books about motherhood I’ve been reading lately, and there was a lot of emphasis on how politicization of women’s drug use has focused on pregnant women and mothers, thus treating addicts very differently based on gender alone. A solid read and a very cool overlap of my interests. Recommended by a friend.
