this book was an AMAZING sequel. despite me wanting to give up on the first book, i’m insanely glad i didn’t. 

even with the wordiness of some parts (which was less of an issue in this book), the magic system and the way the Scholomance works is so intriguing. its unique, really. 

what i can’t forgive is how hard my heart was BEATING against my chest throughout the last chapter of this book. i had a feeling that it was going to end the way it did so i was reading so slow and filled with sooo much tension. picked up the third book right away :,)

i feel like while the writing style definitely lends itself to an audiobook, i’m not the right audience for it like that, because i just find it very hard to stay focused

WHEN I TELL YOU THE ENDING HAD ME SCREAM SO LOUD MY WHOLE OFFICE TURNED AND LOOKED AT ME I'M NOT KIDDING. I've LOVED this series so far, DEVOURED it, so I was hoping to wait to savor the third and last book of the series only to IMMEDIATELY start the next one. Lovely characters, incredible setting, interesting world, 10/10

I just felt like it was such a tonal let down from the first book. Nothing exciting really came from the cliff hanger. The final moment that Orion and El kiss didn’t really spark any excitement in me. It was just super frustrating
