Like a bedtime story for ornithologists, Bluebirds Seven features delicate watercolour illustrations and charming prose following a growing family of bluebirds.

In 1917, R. Bruce Horsfell, illustrator, "constructed a bluebird nesting box on a window sill of his home," inspiring this beautiful collection. This once forgotten story was then uncovered and donated to the Audubon Society of Portland in the 1970s, who published the work. A story fit for both children and adults, Bluebirds Seven depicts a realistic account of bluebird life and cautions readers of the declining Western Bluebird population caused by invasive bird species and pesticide use.
