This is a sweet romance about finding love when you least expect it. In one heroic move Sol saves lives but loses his ability to keep being a firefighter. He soon finds himself in downward spiral, but Ember is not willing to give up on man she admires. Ember has always looked up to Sol but when she gets to work with the man, she soon begins to feel much more than just admiration. Can Ember save Sol from himself before it is too late?

Their story is a quick and predictable one. If you enjoy Harlequin type romance books than this one is for you. While Sol may have lost his purpose since getting injured Ember has never doubted him. As Ember tries to reach the man she knows is still there, the two must figure out the attraction that is simmering between them. While the storyline was interesting, I did not connect with the characters. I felt that there was not enough depth to them and some of the plot just really seemed like filler and unnecessary. I would have liked to have seen the story fleshed out a bit more, as it stands the story felt a bit rushed to me. I was happy to see the importance put on therapy and help for those needing it, but it seemed almost as if it was just added for moving the plot along. As bad as Sol was, he barely saw the therapist and after a few sessions he was pretty much cured. I know this is fiction, but it was a stretch. It was nice to see Sol and Ember find their way to a happy ever after.

I have such a weakness for cover art and this is a perfect example of why ❣️📕

So Sol is Mr May and Ember has always has a soft for him but he’s also been her mentor and guide at the firehouse ….

Sol got hurt saving 2 children and he’s hailed a hero by many and rightly so but in his own eyes he’s a failure and he tries to drown his sorrows in the bottle when he’s forced to retire ….

Ember reaches out to him and soon enough friendship grows into something deeper and stronger well it flames up into hot passion 🔥

Sol is older than Ember and I think it’s just what she needs band I’ve always been one to like an older man 😉

Loved you Ember and Sol ❣️🔥

This book is the fourth book in the Firehouse 13 series. However, do not let this stop you from picking it up. This story will absolutely suck you in so you cannot put it down - even if you haven't read the rest of the series yet. The love burning between Sol and Ember is absolutely electric. The book brought out a lot of different feelings inside of me including loss, love, and comfort. This book does a great job of shining a light on mental health and how it can affect the relationships you hold.

Each character held unique qualities. Sol, a retired firefighter, holds onto his injury and lets it affect every part of his life. Where Ember, a rookie firefighter, takes life by the horns and works hard in her career. The two of them together create sparks that could very easily start a fire.

Burned by Fire: Firehouse 13 by Danielle Jacks

Burned by Fire isn't the first book I've read by the author. It's a Firehouse 13 Book and it's an amazing read. You really like Firehouse Romance then you'll like this.

Sol used to be a firefighter until he was injured. He saved two kids from a burning building while he was off duty. He doesn't like being called a hero because he doesn't feel like one. Then Ember comes into his life and changes it. The quote I chose for Sol is: “It’s a bit like my situation. Everyone thinks I’m a hero for saving those kids, but when I look in the mirror all I see are the scars. I don’t see their futures.”

Ember has always had a crush on her former mentor and firehouse buddy. She's even collected the charity calendars the firehouse makes because of him. When he comes by and they get stuck in the elevator she confesses her feelings for him. She isn't expecting to start a life with him. The quote I chose for Ember is: “I look up to you because you’re fearless. You moved away from your hometown as soon as you were old enough and went after your dreams. You’re not my hero because you’ve saved lives. You’re my hero because you inspire me to be better.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

This contemporary romance was incredible. When I first found this series I was a little worried about trying it just due to the fact that the series is written by several different authors. But I was definitely wrong, this author like the others provided us with a novel full of emotions, angst, romance, chemistry, hope and so much more. The characters are amazing, the plot was interesting, and the series as a whole has really blown me away. So if your looking for a new romance read to pick up this week, then make sure you take a look into this one.

This is one of those stories that when you start reading it you just fall in love with the characters. I loved everything about Sol and Ember, their journeys separately and their journey together. They were both such genuine and relatable characters and I was secretly rooting for them the whole way through. I loved the storyline as well, it was really easy to follow and the flow made the story such a. Pleasure to read. This is the first book that I have read from this series but not by this author. I love that her writing style never waivers which means I know when I pick up one of her books I am in for a great read and this one was no exception.
Overall a really lovely read and one that I would highly recommend.

This was a shorter novella. While the story line is there and the main characters, Sol and Ember, each have their connections to the storyline this story could have been really amazing. I am of the thought that the more details you put into both the storyline and the characters the better the story. That said it was a cute short romance read and was enjoyable. I would read another story by this author.

Burned by Fire: Danielle Jacks

Part of the Firehouse 13 series, Burned by Fire is installment number four. Each book can be read separately. In Burned by Fire, the story follows former fireman Solomon Fox. Sol was injured while doing an off-duty rescue, forcing him into early retirement. His life became a downward spiral until he reconnects with a former mentee. From there, with her help, his life starts looking up again.

All the characters from Burned by Fire are relatable. The reader could feel what the characters were feeling the entire story. The story kept me guessing and I enjoyed how it portrayed him turning his life back around. It is a heart-felt story, and I could not put it down. The only downfall is that it could have used a little more description in places and some of the conversations were worded awkwardly.

Overall, Burned by Fire is a must read. If you are looking for a realistic love story that is also a quick read, look no further.

I loved this book, the characters had that sweet essence, but with their own fire going. I loved their different personalizes as well as the walks of life they come from. The book was convincing and a wonderful read.

Sol and Ember were wonderful, they both were stubborn at times, there flame between them was undeniable to say the least. I loved watching them with scenes together, and how it played out. Sometimes with fire fighting, you have to risk it all and run into that burning house, I found that was what Sol and Ember both had to do. Leap of faith. Not be afraid and just do it. Their story was a quick and easy read, but all so wonderful. Enjoyed the author's writing and how the story played out!

Loved this book, its  quick, but very much amazing read. Loved the author's writing style and character development. Highly recommend this must read book! Loved it from start to finish! Truly loved it!

An injured firefighter learning to deal with a life that now does not include fighting fires and protecting his community and a fairly new firefighter who has had a crush on him for years come together to help each other in this short but oh so sweet book. Together they prove that change can end up being a good thing!!
