This was a great read!
It goes back and forth between the perspective of a husband who has been keeping some pretty big secrets, his wife who's being held hostage in their home with their children, and occasionally the man who's holding them hostage. It also goes back and forth between an interview the husband does and the day of the hostage situation.
The intensity at the end of the book kept me up way past my bedtime! Some people didn't like the ambiguity at the very end, but sometimes it's better to not have all the answers.

This was a good book that was filled with suspense. Apparently, the author based this story on the many armed home invasions that take place in Atlanta (and I'm sure many cities in our country). This book is about a mother, Jade, her two children, and her husband Cam who is a famous chef with a lot of skeletons in his closet. Clearly, he has a lot of enemies who would want to see him suffer, the way he has made other people suffer. It was a good book, and I also enjoyed her novel "Dear Wife" and look forward reading other books by Belle.

Happy Publication Day to Kimberly Belle and My Darling Husband! I opened this book today and read it straight through. My heart was racing as I felt the stress experienced by Jade and her children, Beatrice and Baxter. I felt the tension in Cam as he struggled to rescue them. And, I was tense throughout the drama of the home invasion, the reason for it, and the financial stress and struggle the characters were feeling. I also thought the commentary on the healthcare system in this country was spot on. I also loved how the ending is just a bit vague. Kudos Kimberly Belle!
