DNF at a bare 12%. The protagonists were both SO ANNOYING that I was getting a headache from rolling my eyes so much.

This was giving “cry me a River//if I did you’d pollute it” and I love that for them… however it didn’t hit the whole time.

2.5 stars. I enjoyed the beginning of the story when Miss Isabella Hilgrove who is a proprietess for a Ladies typewriting school goes and inspect why the duke Westmoreland keeps fiering and being very rude to her typewriters that she sent for work for him. I enjoyed the quick banter and that's is clearly was a spark between them but there was a decent enemy's to lovers thing between them. However the end especially made me cringe. It was just to sickly sweet, way to much. A deep love for each other by the end of it, is of course what I want in a romance. But the two lovebirds just was cringy to listen to!

I loved how Scarlett writes the female characters. Isabella was fierce and passionate in her first encounter with the Duke of Westmorland, Benedict, who was an arrogant Duke who thinks he knows everything.
I liked that Isabella gets hired to type everything Ben wants much to his chagrin and i liked how they slowly start falling in love.
Their banter was great and this was delightful. I listened to it in one sitting and I can't wait to read more by this author.

Miss Isabella Hilgrove, proprietress of the Ladies’ Typewriting School, sent her top three typists to the Duke of Westmorland in order to assist him with home office documents. All three were sacked and returned to Miss. Hilgrove in dismay. Of course, she has to go see the Duke to determine the problem!
Isabella:

Benedict Manning, Duke of Westmorland, is under a great deal of stress due to a Fenian bombing on London Bridge. The Special League is under a great deal of pressure to apprehend the plotters. The last thing he needs is an incompetent secretary.
Benedict:

Benedict and Isabella could have never anticipated their mutual attraction and a great deal of adventure and romance ensues. This is a fun story with a lot of steam. Mrs. Scarlett Scott is one of my favorite historical romance authors. I will miss this series!

I
loved
this.

The tension. The frustration. The banter. The snark. THE KISSING, GOD. The emotions. The feelings. The slightly maudlin everyone lives happily ever after ending. All of it. I loved all of it. Having read this entire series, Isabella and Benedict are competing for my favorite couple in it. I can even forgive them for how often they called each other "my *insert endearment here*" by the end of the book.
