Assessing how commonly consumed foods truly make you feel is an idea that has taken on some weight for me recently. This was a fairly thorough guide to the why and how of doing an elimination diet as well as a recipe resource. My husband has read some of it as well, and he found the authors a bit too dogmatic. I struggled to find the resources referenced in the book at first, but I think you can find the majority here: https://wholelifenutrition.net/articles/elimination-diet/free-elimination-diet-resources

I am preparing now to implement this next weekend (multiple food sensitivities and known allergies but symptoms are worsening so it's time to go extreme and get to the bottom of the issue) but it seems like an easy, well researched plan and most of the advice aligns with things I already know. My criticism is it's difficult for plant based eaters. The authors have resources on their website but why not put it in the book (its fine if you don't advocate for it, but recognize that 15-25 percent of the population is vegan or vegetarian for ethical reasons).

There is definitely something here, even if a good chunk of it only seems possible if you have a large disposable income. I know that I need to do an elimination diet to try and figure out bad food triggers, but books like this make it seem all the more impossible rather than the simple diet they act like it is. I will continue to reference this book and apply things I feel like I financially and mentally can.

I have used Tom and Alissa's work for about 8 years now. Through their blog and cookbooks, they taught me how to reorient my cooking and eating around gluten free whole foods. This is a wonderful addition to their offerings. A whole book dedicated to step by step elimination of trigger foods so you can get to the bottom of nagging health problems. Detailed explanations of how food works in the body, why certain foods can be causing you pain/illness and a thorough plan on how to change your diet and find out what your particular body requires. Wonderful.

Love the information throughout the book. It is broken down nicely and had quite a bit of information that I found useful. It definitely changed the way I understand and look at food, the way my body feels, and how to make adjustments to create positive change. My only complaint is that this is not a low FODMAPs elimination diet, so if you are working a low FODMAP diet, some major adjustments will have to be made for the recipes in the back. The recipes are a great starting point though! All in all, great read, great information, wonderful guidance...I just suggest talking to a nutritionalist or naturopath of your own before starting anything.

This book was very well organized, informative, and difficult to live up to. This is an extremely difficult thing for me to do, to reduce and track every thing you eat. I did it for 30 days, and it was not easy. If you embark on this path, I wish you luck, and patience.
