Cliff never fails to write with power and pathos about the experience of a light-skinned, colonized subject, the pain and the privilege written onto your existence, the insistence you shed your history for whiteness. I feel seen when I read her work and this collection of nonfiction is certainly no exception.

This collection of non-fiction short stories were ripe with critics l race inquiries. Just the right touch of thinking that I needed. Can't wait to read "Abeng" and "Free Enterprise."
