I do not like the art style; though the artist is accomplished in that style. I did not connect with the story.

Heard this book for the very first time about a year ago read over the radio. My husband, children & I were laughing so hard in the car that we ordered it as soon as we got home.

Little Betty and Billy choose Walter and bring him home from the animal shelter. Mom makes them give Walter a bath because he smells so bad. But they quickly realize that the problem is deeper than that: Walter is a farting dog.

Billy and Betty don’t mind but their parents can’t take it. They try to fix the problem with visits to the vet and changes in food but Walter just can’t stop. Dad finally threatens to return Walter to the shelter if he doesn’t stop farting. But it turns out there may be unexpected benefits to having a farting dog!

I’ve read this before, years ago, but it still makes me giggle. Poor Walter and his tummy trouble! The illustrations make me laugh too. Walter is perpetually surrounded by a green fog of gas. And the poor vet examining his rear end! I’m chuckling just thinking about it.

This is a cute story sure to please readers who think a farting dog is funny. Parents who want to discuss a little deeper can mention that we have to love people (and dogs) as they are. We all have intrinsic value.

Ummm...
The only reason we read this book is because it was mentioned in another book, “Ban this Book.”
At least I didn’t spend much time reading it.

Hilarious! Kids can't help but giggle at the gross-but-funny humor as the story's family tries to cope with their sweet but very flatulent dog.

I had to read this book to my wife every night for six months when my daughter was two years old. I am only going list it one time. A hilarious story with heart.

This book is on the banned book list. I can see how some people would find it inappropriate. Over all the story was okay. It was different due to the farting aspect but the story line was nothing special. I would probably have this in a classroom for children to read silently but I would not read it aloud.

The things you read when it's the last day of the year and you're trying (and failing) to meet your Goodreads goal.

This is always on the TV at the vet and wanted to give it a read since our doggos fart all the time. Silly read

A mindless children's book that made both of my kids (and me, tbh)...oh and my husband (in another room!) laugh out loud. While technically a 3-star book for me, if a kid book makes me LOL or shed a tear, it gets an extra star.
