Lighthearted and fun! I thoroughly enjoyed Agatha and Penelope as a couple and loved their relationship development. You saw the entire progression of strangers to friends to lovers. There weren’t  many steamy scenes, but the ones we had were v good. The focus of the book was very much on the relationship development and the town. The relationship development was top tier. It was very slow and sweet, and I loved it. It’s so nice to read about such a healthy and loving relationship!! And I think this is the first book I’ve read where the characters are older adults and have grown up kids!

It did drag a little in the middle, but the characters and the fast paced ending made up for it. This is a great low-angst, slice of life sapphic romance that is so sweet!

I'm officially an Olivia Waite fan! I loved getting to see and hear about characters from The Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics (the first book in this series), while thoroughly enjoying the differences between the two stories.

For how different they are I loved both Penelope and Agatha, and the supporting cast of characters were equally enjoyable. Waite does a great job of incorporating historical events and conventions without getting bogged down in them, and while there are certainly anachronisms, they are for the sake of making the characters relatable (and aren't overly egregious in any case), so this historian has no complaints.
