I was delighted when I found out this series got a second book. I have been waiting for almost 2 years, in the end even giving up to check this one every time I had to see if there was something new.

It took me a little bit to get back in the series. But as soon as I knew the characters and established their relationships it was like I never left. I just flew over the pages.

We have 3 POVs. Penny, Jasmine and Indy, each of them has their problems, their goals and also a love life. It is all interesting to see how everything entwines and comes together.

Penny was just a moron. Sorry, you have all the chances in your life to try Wimbledon, and you want to ruin it all by playing the current one? It just felt incredibly stupid, she was hurting so badly, and everyone was telling her this was a bad idea, but oh no, miss Penny needs to win, wants to win. Not caring that if her ankle really gives, if it really will tear, then her whole career is over. Now, she can still have a chance later. When everything is healed. I won't spoil anything about her decisions and what happened at the end as there were things that happened around the end.

All the drama between ALL the characters just got a bit old and boring. It was fun in the beginning and it gave the story something extra, but after 200 pages... I just got tired of it and wondered why they just couldn't talk it all out. Why they had to go through such lengths. They are friends right? Well, I didn't feel much friendship as the story went on.
Especially the whole Indiana x Jack and needing to tell Penny (and not doing it until she found out herself) or the whole Jasmine x Teddy x Paolo stuff. I am glad that Jasmine part was found out soon and that Jasmine made a wonderful decision, but I just hated how the Penny x Indiana x Jack stuff was dragged out.

Add to that, we got a new character, who thank the Lord above, doesn't play a big role, but she is still highly annoying. She brought with her a lot of tension, and I don't tend to like characters who act like she does. It was just disgusting and I wanted to smack her.

I really loved the romance in this one. It was all clean, nothing like a lot of New Adult books have, but even with it being clean, it was still very hot and sexy. And I loved how our characters didn't immediately hop into bed with their boyfriends. Instead most of them took it slow and easy, which made it all very realistic. (Yes, sorry, I don't think it is very realistic when people dive into bed immediately after a spark.)

All in all, this was a pretty decent read, not as good as the other one (due to the drama/annoying characters), but I would still recommend it to people.

One would think that if someone read the previous book back in 2017 that they would dive back into that before reading the sequel. Well, I did think about doing that but decided to just jump into Losing at Love. I didn't really care about the possible confusion that might happen, which yes - it did.

In this, you are still following the same people from the previous book. I only truly know this because I looked at my review. Plus, the synopsis kind of helped me realize that as well. Since I didn't really remember much of what happened beforehand, it's safe to say that it took me a while to start liking this one. Don't get me wrong, the characters were okay, but I just wasn't completely invested.

Then the ending came and I'm not sure what to feel or say. The "big" tennis match was interesting but over quickly in my eyes. I'm also not sure if I'm supposed to think there's going to be another book or not. Since I don't see another book within this series on Goodreads, I'm going to have to say one isn't coming.

While I'm still in love with the cover design, and the overall story, Losing at Love just didn't feel as high stakes for me, which is usually what I want in a sports romance.

There were still stakes, but they didn't feel as realistic or set up. A majority of this sophomore novel focused more on the triad of romances over the tennis matches, which is fine, but meant that again, the stakes didn't feel as stacked.

Still a fun, quick read!! Wish I'd stuck with tennis a bit more when I was younger.

Oh my God!!!

This is an Oh my God novel!!

I have to tell you that I haven’t read the first book, but I was immediately drawn to the characters and the story!

I loved every second of it, every page of it!!

Everything about is amazing!!

There are many characters and we get to know each and every one of them (the main ones, at least)!! It was absolutely mesmerizing!!

I don’t usually like multiple POVs, because one, the authors don’t usually make it work and second, I am getting confused. But, this one..Oh this one IS THE EXEMPTION!!

It is perfect!! It is excellent!!

The writing isn’t confusing. It’s interesting and exciting!

The characters aren’t boring. They are special and intriguing and adorable! Even if they are mean, they are perfectly developed!

I reward this amazing novel with An Infinity of Stars, because it is a true and unique masterpiece. There is no other like this one.

Breathtaking.

One of a kind.

Losing At Love will challenge you and excite you.

Jennifer, I want to give you so many Congratulations that will make your head spin!

Losing at Love receives More than 5 Stars!!

Losing at Love had a slightly slow start for me. I’m not even sure why but once the ball got rolling I was all in. It’s kind of like watching a Tennis Pro reality show only you get to be in three of the girls heads. I like that the book is divided up in the different points of views of Penny, Jasmine and Indy. Each girl is going through their own little slice of drama but they are all passionate about what they love. Which of course is tennis. The right amount of tennis is mixed in, you get enough to really feel like you're involved but not to much it overwhelms you. The story has good pacing and I really liked Jennifer Lacopelli’s writing.

Penny is dealing with an injury and how that affects her career. She’s resting it but still wants to play in Wimbledon because of course it’s Wimbledon. She has her boyfriend her side, who is supportive of her, no matter her decisions are. I really liked their relationship. It was just the right amount of cute. I also like Alex’s mom making an appearance.

Indy is an up and comer who is having a secret relationship with Penny’s brother Jack. Wow I really felt for Indy. There were things that happened that were not in her control and sometimes it seemed like when it rained it poured. Her biggest obstacle was learning to be both a friend and a pro tennis player, and how the two intertwine. It’s not always easy to choose the sport over everything else. Her and Jack’s relationship was also interesting and cute.

Jasmine at the beginning was actually my least favorite of the girls but then pulled ahead to be my favorite of the storylines. She is dealing with a loss that is causing people to question whether she should go pro or go to college first instead. She really struggles with this decision because even though she knows what she wants, she’s getting a lot of resist and pressure from the people around her. Once Jasmine hits London I really ended up liking her. Instead of letting people roll over her…..ahem Teddy...she really ends up standing up for herself and moving on. It was so refreshing to read a character like her! There were a couple scenes that I wanted to high five her and yell, you go girl!

There were a few people definitely on my shit list. Caroline, Teddy and Amy…..ugh Amy. Talk about someone that reminds you of every annoying person you have ever come across in your life. I cringed every time she called Jasmine Jazzy. I really loved having Paolo and Alex’s mom, Anna, around. Dom...well I had mixed feelings about him.

By the time I reached the end of the book, I was like really that’s it. I felt so disappointed because I wanted more! I wanted to keep reading and know how things worked out for the girls!!! It was that ah man feeling when I hit the acknowledgements. (which is a good thing) I really liked the book and I’m not always a big sports book fan. Like I said though this one had the perfect mix. Great read!

I enjoyed it, but not as much as the first. It was very much character driven, but rather lacking in plot, and I just couldn't get close to any of the whole host of interconnected and related characters. I'm still not sure I could draw out an accurate family tree!

I may come back and give a better review but my 'straight after finishing it' thoughts were:

I absolutely loved this book, and this series to be honest! Especially how we got to see Jazz come into her own and Indy's relationship develop. I don't feel like this one ties everything up, and there's so much left open that I'd love to see another one (or seven...)
As someone who doesn't actually like tennis in real life, the fact I was so interested in the games and the training and their efforts is a testament to the writing style. It's very easy to read and feel in the moment, and the tennis speak isn't hard to understand and the romances thread throughout ^-^
