As easy to read as any others, this volume unfortunately lacked a defined story. Ashleigh tries to spend time with Aladdin, rides in a lot of horse shows, and gallops after a runaway horse in enough time to watch Aladdin ride.

There's plenty of internal struggle from Ashleigh as she's signing up to too many shows therefore hasn't the time to spend with Aladdin while he's in town. She could have do one less show over the weekend and entered another one next weekend.

I didn't know why this volume was called A Dangerous Ride until the very end. Ashleigh chases after Frisky, her best friend's horse, when he spooks and runs at a busy road. Everyone congratulates her and tells her she's a natural jockey. It reminds her she wants to be a jockey, but I don't see why she couldn't show a couple of weekends and spend time with the broodmares the others. There is only a conflict because Aladdin arrives the same time Mona wins a bunch of shows.

Despite all this it's another easy to read in the Ashleigh series. It felt more like a filler book, but still enjoyable. The change of pace in showing is nice and the snobby show girl is amusing.
