Apparently the series has a hea, but I'd say this book doesn't even if it's hopeful.

But it's a fucking great book apart from that.

Holy freaking shit! THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!
REVIEW TO COME!

I received a copy from the author and this is my honest review...

OK I JUST FINISHED THIS BOOK AND OMG IT'S AMAZING AND EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT!

For fans of #UrbanFantasy #Vampirism #Angels #Angst

PS.... Get a buddy reader because you will need emotional support! And VENTING! .... Mine was the awesome Nikki Simpson
PPS... heed the trigger warnings.

Why read this book....
1. The Characters....

Orlando: The ballerino, the child who was dealt a bad hand, but who had a guardian angel on his side, to help him, guide him, protect him and love him. #AlwaysThere

Henri: The guardian angel, the nephilim, the fallen king. All those titles are overshadowed by what he is to Orlando... his lover, his soulmate, his secret. #HideYouAway

2. The Plot...
Unique, engaging, investing, out of the box and so much more. It is a story of secrets and love, obsession and pain. Also... beware the angst and get tissues. #OneOfAKind

3. The Romance...
Slow burn because of Orlando's age when we meet him. The romance that blooms between them over time is organic, romantic and flawless. #Inevitable

4. The Heat...
LEVEL 10 HEAT! Holy freaking hell, the sex scenes were scorching! #PantiesWentPoof

5. The Point of view...
This is written in delicious second person point of view. #Yum

6. The Ending...
It's a cliffy... yup... but good news! Book 2 is out so you can jump right in when you finish this, just like I am right now. #NoPatience

Honestly. Really good. The book uses 2nd person story telling which is a feat unto itself, but the characters and their love is really beautiful and felt very real considering the circumstances. My only issue with the book is the ending (like last 100 pages) was super choppy and felt like it lacked impact or belief. I don’t want to say more to avoid spoilers but it definitely dragged after the middle.

If I cannot bend the will of Heaven, I shall move Hell.

This story was dangling right at the precipice of bliss, but your innate desires force you to turn into a monster. An absolute monster. Every line in this book made me want to scream in god damn agony and I loved every fucking moment of it.

There’s a reason why humans are regarded as sinners, and I never really cared for that sentiment until now. Until I met Henri and Orlando. Until I met the people/gods surrounding Henri and Orlando.

You will be seduced in this world of Demi-God’s, Angels, Demons, Warriors, Dancers, Murderers filled with themes of damnation, blood, desire, magic, obsession, lust, pain... love.

Love.

Is that the greatest sin of all I wonder? To love, and to be completely consumed by love?

I’ve read a lot of books, but nothing I’ve read has been this, and it earned a spot in my 2020 favourites. I am so excited to see where else the author will take with this story (if there ends up being a sequel). Laura Lascarso will be on my radar now, and I’m so ready for what she has in store for future releases.

You possessed a beauty that could be a blessing or a curse, depending on who coveted it.

So that ending just fucked me up. I already saw a spoiler so I knew what was coming but I still read the book and was pretending the whole time that I never saw no spoiler. Whoever said ignorance is bliss is absolutely right.

This is a PNR between a Nephilim and a human. Not the best I've read but I have a soft spot for books that are angel-related.

The world-building is pretty shaky. Most humans have no idea angels and demons are real and can possess their bodies, but Orlando (the human mc) pretty much announces to everybody that he has a demon boyfriend. Most people were like okay Orlando you do you, but I thought he could've been more lowkey about their relationship.

Orlando is 18 for most of the book, and he acts exactly how you'd expect someone his age to act. In his own words: "I’m spiteful, jealous, and possessive". Straight up he was a brat and made the worst decisions. But surprise surprise, he also really grew on me. This whole book I just wanted him to be safe and loved.

Henri (pronounced on-ree) is our 2k yr old nephilim. In the words of Orlando's friend: "Talk about a shriveled dick. That bitch be looking like a California raisin." Sorry but I died laughing reading that.

And then Henri's reaction: "I did not care for Tyrell speaking about my hypothetical genitals in such a derogatory manner". Bruh
