This was really more of Middle Grade than Young Adult. While the concept was cool, the writing was flat and boring. And so were the characters. The idea of a boy getting pieces of an iPhone embedded into his brain, thus developing the power to do some awesome things, was very neat and original. But the delivery was horrific. The way things were explained was a train wreck. It was all over the place, and repetitive - I felt like I was running up a downward escalator. It was exhausting!

And the text talk, really? Who the hell actually talks like that? I understand using 2 and u instead of the real words, but come on. People don't abbreviate EVERYTHING. I don't know even one single person that texts like that. I actually had trouble figuring out what the supposed text messages were trying to say. Plus there were WAY too many dots in the conversations. The pages were so overloaded with "blah blah...." pauses that it was distracting and made my brain hurt. What's wrong with using a f*cking period?

I was bored out of my mind and I didn't give a crap about the story or the characters. I couldn't bring myself to get past 100 pages.

I think this book is more a Middle Grade book than a Young Adult book.
The idea of 'iBoy' sounded awesome but how the story turned out was really flat and not really interesting, at least for me.

iBoy was amazing. I was reading most of the book on the edge of my seat, waiting for something to happen, and when it did I was very happy. But, I didn't like the writing style. A lot of times I cringed at the writing, which is not something I wanted to do. Also, I did not enjoy the main character, Tom. He did a lot of things that I was just like, "What are you doing?". I did really like Lucy. Lucy was a great character, I loved her, and I think the romance aspect throughout the book is what helped me not get too annoyed with Tom. I really enjoyed the ending and the antagonist. He was bad, but that's what makes a good antagonist. The ending tied the entire book together for me. I mean, I have questions, but I don't feel this need for them to be answered. I was satisfied with the ending, very satisfied. Mostly, I liked the overall message. Even though Tom annoyed me, I understood him. The book really told me to appreciate what you have, to enjoy all the good things in life, and to not let the bad things bring me down, and I really liked that. Now, I'm excited to watch the movie with Maisie Williams in it because I FUCKING LOVE Maisie Williams. So I'm gonna do that now.
