I had planned on just reading a chapter before bedtime. They next thing I knew, I had reached the end. But I didn't want it to end. The only way that happens for me is if the book flows well, has great characters, and a plot that not only makes sense but develops throughout the story.
Liz Wilkinson has been hired to run the new wedding venue in Malibu. She hires talented people that not only complement the business but they add to the story. With weeks still to go before the grand opening, her past knocks on her door. Her ex-fiancee, Jason's niece needs a new secret venue before she looses it. Watching them pull off a fancy wedding in two weeks was awe inspiring.
The only problem--Liz and Jason will have to work closely to pull it off. Liz and Jason will have to "pretend" to be the couple to through off the press. Liz and Jason will have to deal with the past.
There isn't a lot of HOT in The Beach Wedding but there is a lot of sweet. It is a very believable cute book. There wasn't too little. There wasn't too much. It was just right.

The story was a bit bland and the characters very one dimensional, the preperations for the wedding were interesting and the book was written well but i found it unbeleivable..... Firstly the Venue... I really dont beleive a lot of celebs would use it... maybe ordinary people but the rich and famouse tend to like having their own unique weddings, Dress ect not leaving it up to a venue.... It would have been more beleivable as a wedding planner... and the way things just fell together and flowed was too easy.... it wasnt bad, but not good either..... 2.5 down the middle

I honestly can’t believe that I made it through this book. I wanted to stop quite a few times but I kept going in the hopes of it getting better. The characters were two dimensional and childlike. The storyline was predictable with not much going on.

The two main characters had a petty romance where the woman felt smothered by the man. Because of this, she left him at the alter. After 10 years of not seeing each other, he shows up at her work and asks for help putting on a wedding for his niece. Two weeks after that he asks her to marry him, and she runs away. The next day she brings a surprise wedding to his house and they get married.

This book is full of back and forth thoughts from the woman’s perspective.

“Should I let him into my life again?”

“No, he smothers me with too much love.”

“But he’s hot. And famous.”

“But he doesn’t give me space.”

“But he’s hot.”

Truly, that was a large percentage of this book.

Give it a try if you’re fond of shallow romances and characters who have fake personalities and no true motivation.

This was just a fun romantic story of finding that love you knew you never truly lost.

Quick read. Cute story with a very predictable plot and ending. Very Hallmark movie-esk. Not a lot of depth to the story line or characters, some of the details were lightly brushed over and left you questioning why the author didn't go into things deeper. No graphic intimate details, other than kissing, romantic details are mostly left to the imagination.

I never expected to find a love that eclipsed everything else.

"She knew me better than I knew myself," He said to the empty room. "And the trust was that she always had."

"Actually," she whispered, "you look like forever."

I enjoyed this book because the premise was simple and the book was fairly short. I liked that the author didn’t make this book unnecessarily long and go into unnecessary detail; it was an enjoyable chick lit with a happy (although predictable) ending. I’m glad to see it’s part of a series, and I will be reading the next few.

The Beach Wedding from Lucy Kevin is the first book in the Married in Malibu series. Liz is the new boss of the weeding venue Married in Malibu. When Jason a bestselling author comes to her to arrange a weeding for his famous niece at this venue, Liz is shocked. Ten years ago, she and Jason were supposed to get married, but the wedding was canceled. Working closely together is not easy for both of them and slowly they start falling for each other again.

I started reading this book with little to no expectations. And it turned out really well. The whole story is interesting. The characters are all briefly introduced. I'm sure that the other books are about each of them. I can't really tell if I like the characters as we do not read a lot about them. Liz is hardworking and passionate. But when it is about her personally, she panics and runs. Jason is a loving man. He loves Liz and his niece with all his heart. This is a book where the lady runs and not the man! This should be noted somewhere! Unfortunately, I could not engage with the characters and the story very well.

The book is really short! Suddenly I was at the end and did not know how that happened. The story flowed by. A very light and romantic book. Perfect for cozy days. It is a really good book and I would love to read the next book in the series. The rating is more like a 3.5 rating.
