This was my first to read of Marni but I am a huge fan of Gia's writing. I thought the collaboration was great. At times it was difficult to tell which author wrote which part because they were so seamless. This book is a complete standalone, written in dual POV from Clay and Andi. The two characters meet as they are both running, trying to hide, from something very different but almost equally destroying. I absolutely loved the suspense aspect at the beginning of this book. Not only was I questioning what had happened to get Clay in his situation, I was on the edge of my seat for what was to come. I did feel like it plateaued a little in the middle of the book and I started to lose interest but it picked back up. I would love to see more from some of the secondary characters.

I've read most of gia's books but marni is new for me. They didn't disappoint. You will feel for the main characters in the book. I wanted to just hug them and give them strength to do what needed to be done.
I couldn't put it down as usual with Gia's novels. I received this as an ARC and so very happy I received it from them.

Full of plot holes and inconsistencies. They go from living in a hovel to a luxury apartment while they’re on the run? Ohhh-kay

4.5 holy crap so much happened, stars!

Talk about feeling all the feelings. This book is a rollercoaster ride to say the least. I was angry at some points, I was crying at some points, and I was swooning at some points. Andi is running away from someone in her life who is very abusive. She's broken, but she knows running is her only chance to breath again. To stop drowning.

Clay has gotten into some trouble. He's running from it, and unfortunately has to leave the good life he had behind. His life has always been in the water, but now all it holds are memories he wants to forget, because he can never have them again.

These two are both in a bad spot in life. Andi's looking to start new, and Clay is trying to stay under the radar. When their paths cross, and crap hits the fan, Clay will do anything to make sure Andi gets her new start. Even give up his hiding spot.

So many unexpected things happened in this story. Some of it shocked the hell out of me to be honest. I think that the amount of events that happened could be considered soap opera level, but the authors handled them well, and they felt fitting to these characters story.

Andi and Clay connect with each other pretty quickly, but it's understandable because they are in similar positions. There are some situations that I feel people may have issues with, but honestly the authors made the characters have believable reactions in the timeline of a fiction novel. Remember people this ISN'T real life. It's fiction, and in my fiction world I think Andi and Clay (cough) are perfect together.

The writing is great and seamless! If I wasn't told I would have no idea this was written by two people. Dual POV of Andi and Clay, and some flashbacks to the past of each character as well. High on the angsty happenings, with some sweet moments mixed in, and the naughty bits are very hot and steamy once they happen.

So good. When are you guys writing together more??? :) yes I'm greedy!

Clay and Andi are both running.
One from the law. The other from an abuser.
When they meet on a train, both of their lives will change in ways they never could have imagined.
Clay is determined to keep Andi safe. He has decided he will do whatever is needed to keep her hidden, even if that means moving cities again.
Andi knows that Clay is a good man. Her heart tells her that. Andi is determined to show the world that Clay is the good man she knows he is.
What happens when the past catches up to both of them? Will they make it out alive or will it be too much for them to bear?
Clay and Andi have such a sweet story. I think Marni and Gia did a great job writing this story. They touch on difficult subjects but they address them in a manner that is kind but truthful.
I have read many books from Marni. This is my first book from Gia and it won't be my last.
