I’be read several of Giffin’s books, and this was my least favorite. I found it sensationalized and unbelievable, and it also lacked depth. Not Giffin’s best work.

A classic tale of me blindly accepting a book into my life without reading the synopsis.
Since I recently read Meant to Be, I just assumed this was going to be a romcom or something light and breezy.
It was not. However, it was thought provoking and captivating. I would be interested in reading more of Giffin’s books because of her range.
I will note, I watched Something Borrowed when it first came out forever ago and like hated that movie. Maybe I would like the book now and maybe my thoughts have evolved in two decades.

Some of the major plot points were just infuriating and implausible.

Everything I saw about this book prior to reading it made me think it was going to be a romance. It WAS NOT. Don’t go into this thinking it will be.
Overall, I thought it was good once I figured out it definitely wasn’t a romance. The pacing was pretty consistent until the end of the book where everything went a little crazy. I kinda wish the epilogue was in finch’s and lylas pov instead of just lylas but it was good either way.
I saw some other reviews talking about how a teen going to a non parent adult for help was unrealistic but I completely disagree. Sometimes it’s easier to tell people your issues if they aren’t your parent.
Honestly, I still just stuck on the fact that this seemed like a romance and it was not.
