That was the kind of book that drives you to turn the pages rapidly. Intricate plot and a very fragile main character were enthralling! A lot of nice touches throughout!

It was good and I enjoyed it, but I'm struggling to remember much about it even a few days after I finished it.

I would read more from Imran Mahmood in the future.

I had high hopes for this book, from the blurb on the back and the opening chapters. So I’m a bit torn about giving it only 3 stars, but it didn’t quite deliver for me, sadly. As others have said, the flipping from then to now sometimes caused confusion, and Layla the narrator definitely seemed a little unhinged to me - far too much cerebral neurotic pondering at times, and none of the characters felt particularly vivid to me. I kept reading to the end, but I can’t say I look back and think “wow”, sadly.

My second book of Mahmood's and I was reading and reading just waiting for SOMETHING to happen but nothing did.

Layla has been arrested after being found cradling the body of Amy who has been stabbed. After being arrested all Layla will say is find Michael to find what they need to know.

It moves between a now and then narrative. Now being the interview and after the crime happened narrative and the then which is the days leading up to the crime narrative.

It’s very slow paced, the main character isn’t likeable, and is very unreliable and all these added together just put me of the book. I read it all to see how it would all end but I was just left utterly disappointed and kind of frustrated because this had potential and could have worked really well.
