A collection of beautiful love stories that draw on a wide range of myths and folklore tales, most of which I'd never heard of before.
The characters are beautifully elaborated and the writing is so stunning.
The only downside was that I struggled to connect to some of the stories but that is often the case with short story collections.
Overall, would recommend if you want to feel the authors love of love.

was going to be a 5 star read for me, but the new tales section kind of lowered it to 4.

babalola shone when it came to writing mythical stories with otherwordly elements, imo. the first tale is probably my favourite, followed by siya's. the contemporary, modern romances also worked for me as they were well-known tropes kept short and sweet, so it wasn't repetitive.

(also, i'm torn between wishing some of them were a full book, and thinking they are perfect the way they are already).

Overall beautiful writing. Some of the stories were better than others, but that's to be expected in a collection of stories. A great exploration of what it truly means to love and be loved

The stories were not convincing in their own right and I didn't feel like they were teasing out interesting aspects of the myths. The feminism presented in the book seems outdated as well.
