It's a Feudal, Feudal World by Stephen Shapiro is definitely one for my shelf. I really liked this book. The information on medieval history was presented in such a way that proved interesting. The graphs, illustrations, and hit bits were helpful and plentiful. I think both students learning about medieval history for the first time, as well as teachers needing a refresher on this period, will like this resource. In my opinion, it sets the stage for further research and information gathering.

Fun, but random. The information presented was fascinating and covered a really wide variety of topics, but frequently I'd turn the page for more information on a topic only to find that the topic had been drastically changed. Also, some of the graphic depictions of information were not as clear as they could have been.

Overall, this is something I would have loved as a tw/een.

This reminds me a bit of the "You Wouldn't Want to be a..." series.
It is an overview of medieval history from the fall of the Roman Empire to the beginning of the Renaissance. The use of humor, charts, infographics, maps, and timelines gives students a lot of information but broken into smaller, more manageable chunks. It is not limited solely to Europe but also includes Persia, Central Asia, and China. There is representation of weapons, faiths, artisans, peasants, rulers, etc. Each topic has a two-page spread with interesting and useful facts and tidbits.
A good beginning resource for those studying or interested in this topic.
