I know why this book in the series is the one I remember the most. It feels the most “grownup” of the series exploring much darker themes and not shying away from death. For some reason, I just felt like even the pacing was better even though I’m pretty sure Meg Cabot has been following the same pacing structure this entire series. Idk, it felt like the story just flowed better. And it felt more believable. As always, extra points for Rob being the best romantic lead.

It is a great one. You root for Jess and every single other person and you cannot put the book down until you know the answers to all of your questions. Not to mention, Cabot has real talent penning honest and true relationships.

This has nothing to do with the novel but the cover design on this version is horrific. I have the old originals and they are beautiful.
This instalment of 1-800 is gripping but does have an obviousness to it. Bearing in mind I am a 35 year old, when I was 17 reading these I could also anticipate the way this way going but not nearly as easily.
I enjoyed the take no shit attitude of Jess. It kept things interesting to say the least.

A quick re-read. It was interesting to read about Jess solving a crime in her own school.

The tone in this one is definitely the darkest yet. It's kind of sickening in a fascinating way.
It reminded me too much of the mediator series to give it a higher rating.
I also finished it ages ago and don't remember it overwelmingly.
